Seguin, ON Community Information
Seguin Township was formed in 1998, through the amalgamation of the municipalities of Christie, Foley, Humphrey, the village of Rosseau, as well as the western part of the Township of Monteith. Its administrative offices are located in Humphrey.
The township is home to approximately 5,000 permanent residents, but the population swells to well over 15,000 residents during the summer. Real estate in Seguin is a great investment for those looking to purchase a vacation rental property.

There are 186 lakes within Seguin’s borders, including the northern shores of Lakes Joseph and Rosseau. There are nineteen public boat launches in the area, including Waterfront Park in Rosseau, which includes a dock, beach, park and playground.
Enjoy boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and other water fun in the larger lakes, or seek out quieter bodies of water for canoeing, kayaking, or paddle boarding. Discover local fishing holes and seek out tips from local bait shops. For golf aficionados, Seguin Valley Golf Club features a pristine setting for some of the most stunning holes in Canada. The 18 holes cut through an 890-acre slice of wilderness, wetlands and lakes, with no parallel fairways.
Seguin also features a variety of great outdoor trails, perfect for hiking, biking and ATVing. The Humphrey Nature Trails features 8 kms of eco-friendly trails through forest and wetlands, alongside creeks and waterfalls. The Park-to-Park Trail is a regional initiative working to link Killbear Provincial Park to Algonquin Provincial Park through 230 kms of trails. This trail system features a multitude of four-season uses, including hiking/walking, cycling, horseback riding, ATVing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dog sledding.
Winter in the Seguin region does not mean the outdoor fun stops! There are a multitude of trail systems and natural areas perfect for snowshoeing and snowmobiling, and there are numerous nordic ski centers in the area. Ice fishing is another popular Northern Ontario pastime. The Humphrey Arena also offers local hockey leagues, shinny games, public skating, as well as recognized Skate Canada Programs.
Residents and visitors can access basic amenities at local general stores, marine shops and other small businesses throughout the Seguin area. The Rosseau General Store is both an historical landmark, operating for over a century, and a fully functioning grocery/bakery/hardware/lifestyle store. The Rosseau Farmer’s Market also operates a weekly, with over 80 vendors selling local produce, baked goods, crafts and other unique items. Parry Sound is also a short half-hour drive away for access to big-box and other retail options.
The Seguin region is rich in arts and culture, with many exceptional musicians, artists and artisans, personal studios, and organized art tours. Parry Sound is home to the Charles Stockey Center for the Performing Arts, the annual Festival of Sound, and offers year-round entertainment programming.
A cultural highlight is the Humphrey School House Museum, which highlights community history and natural environment. The museum is housed in an original hand-hewn log cabin built in the early 1870s and used as a local school. Parry Sound’s Museum on Tower Hill is another must-visit for local history buffs.

Students in Seguin Township are serviced by the Near North School District Board, and can attend Humphrey Public School or one of 5 excellent elementary schools in Parry Sound, and Parry Sound High School. There are also independent options like Rosseau Lake College, Otter Lake Christian School, Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School, Parry Sound Forest School, and others.
Post-Secondary institutions include Canadore College (Parry Sound Campus), Georgian College (Barrie), Canadian Career College (North Bay and Sudbury), Nipissing University (North Bay), and Laurentian University (Sudbury).
