3 Wineries & Breweries In The Muskoka Region

Blueberries on vine in Muskoka, ON region

The Muskoka region, found north of Toronto, around Georgian Bay, is known for its stunning lakes, beautiful cottages, and abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Muskoka in and of itself is made up of numerous communities, including Bala (recognized for its cranberry festival in the fall), Huntsville (known for its events and scenic spots), and Gravenhurst (which has a long and rich history). There's so much to see and do in this beautiful area, in every single season.

While boating, hiking, and spending summers hanging out at the cottage are all popular pastimes, Muskoka residents and visitors may also want to take a tour around some of the area’s best wineries and breweries—of which there are several! While this is certainly not for everyone, those that do enjoy tasting sessions, hiking trails, and learning about this beautiful part of Ontario will not want to miss this the next time they’re Muskoka.

Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery

1074 Cranberry Road, Bala

Open year-round, Muskoka Lakes Winery in Bala is one of the most popular destinations in the Muskoka region—as it is also known for its cranberry harvest. They offer a number of different wines, and visitors are able to tour and taste every day. Blueberry Hill, where they grow the blueberries for their fruit wines, is one of the major attractions.

This winery has seasonal events that take place (for those who want more than just wine tasting!), including snowshoeing and cider tasting in the winter, wagon tours in the fall, and hiking in the spring and summer. Visit their website here.

Katalyst Brewing Company

Located in downtown Bracebridge, Katalyst Brewing Company is known for its great beer and great atmosphere. In warmer months, there is an outdoor patio where customers are welcome to sit back and enjoy drinks and excellent company. Taste their wide selection of different flavours (non-alcoholic options also available!) as a quick stop, or stick around for one of their many events.

They also offer custom brews for gifts or as promotional material for an event, complete with custom labels. Visit their website here.

Muskoka Brewery

1964 Muskoka Beach Road, Bracebridge

Another popular favourite, Muskoka Brewery is located just south of downtown Bracebridge. While kind of off the beaten track so to speak, this brewery is known for its delicious brews, numerous events (although typically only in the summertime), and welcoming atmosphere.

Visitors are welcome to taste and tour, or just relax on their large outdoor patio. There is also the opportunity to buy merchandise and dine on some of the delicious snacks and sides on their menu. Visit their website here.

The Muskoka area is the premier destination for laid-back living—whether this means a summer cottage or an all year-round escape.
